{"id":167557,"date":"2025-06-27T21:35:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T20:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/yelwata-attack-military-bsuth-conduct-medical-outreach-for-victims"},"modified":"2025-06-27T21:35:00","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T20:35:00","slug":"yelwata-attack-military-bsuth-conduct-medical-outreach-for-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/yelwata-attack-military-bsuth-conduct-medical-outreach-for-victims","title":{"rendered":"Yelwata attack: Military, BSUTH conduct medical outreach for victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Defence Headquarters, in collaboration with the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH, has organized a medical outreach to support victims of the herdsmen massacre in Yelwata community of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.<\/p>\n<p>The outreach, led by the Defence and Police Officers\u2019 Wives Association (DEPOWA), provided free medical care, emotional support and relief items to victims of the violence.<\/p>\n<p>It was part of ongoing efforts to bring succour to displaced and traumatized families in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Oghogho Musa, Chairperson of DEPOWA and wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, described the intervention as a show of solidarity with those who have suffered losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile nothing can replace what has been lost, this is our way of standing with you,\u201d she told the bereaved families.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations, Rear Admiral Ola Bankole, emphasized the military\u2019s commitment to peace and justice.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged community members to cooperate with security agencies by sharing credible intelligence to forestall further attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Over 30 BSUTH health professionals, including doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, pharmacists and other personnel, were deployed for the outreach.<\/p>\n<p>Relief materials such as rice, garri, essential drugs, toiletries and clothing were distributed.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, represented by Cynthia Orjime, expressed the hospital\u2019s condolences to the victims and called for resilience and unity in the face of adversity.<\/p>\n<p>Community leaders, including Ortaar Ucha and Chief John Kpanchokor, thanked DEPOWA and BSUTH for the intervention.<\/p>\n<p>They noted that the outreach had not only alleviated the suffering of victims but also restored a sense of hope and belonging to the people of Yelewata.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
