{"id":167829,"date":"2025-07-01T09:40:32","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T08:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/pdp-as-iroko-tree-bode-george-on-sealing-order"},"modified":"2025-07-01T10:51:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T09:51:25","slug":"pdp-as-iroko-tree-bode-george-on-sealing-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/pdp-as-iroko-tree-bode-george-on-sealing-order","title":{"rendered":"PDP as Iroko Tree Bode George on Sealing Order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, BoT, Bode George, has described the party as an Iroko tree.<\/p>\n<p>George made the remark while disclosing that the policemen who besieged the PDP\u2019s National Secretariat in Abuja and prevented members from meeting said the order came from above.<\/p>\n<p>The BoT could not hold at the Secretariat because policemen prevented members from sitting.<\/p>\n<p>But the FCT Police Command had denied sealing off the Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>However, George said despite the disruption, the PDP is not dead, stressing that those with such claims are dreamers.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to claims that the PDP is dead on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today, George said: \u201cNo way; those are dreamers. I\u2019m telling you they are first-class dreamers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn political management, ownership structure, camaraderie\u2014what we have in the PDP, they don\u2019t have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted further that the former ruling party is \u201cthe Iroko political party of Nigeria, its roots remain deep and intact\u201d despite recent challenges.<\/p>\n<p>According to George: \u201cIt was disgraceful, It\u2019s like going back to your home, and suddenly it\u2019s surrounded by police. I thought, what in the globe is happening?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe police officers were not rough, they were civil, when I asked what was happening if they had a court order? But they just said sir we are on orders, so I went into the building, I went upstairs from there I left for the meeting rescheduled at the Yar\u2019Adua Centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so furious about what is going on, who is the order from above?
