Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again reassured residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of his administration\u2019s commitment to sustaining the delivery of transformative projects that directly improve lives across the city.<\/p>\n

The President gave this assurance during the commissioning of the newly constructed Collector Road CN-8 (Asuquo Okon Street) and its connecting routes within the Dakibiyu District. The road links Arterial Road N-5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) in Jabi to Arterial Road N-1 (Olusegun Obasanjo Way) in Dakibiyu, a stretch expected to ease movement and enhance economic activity in the area.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his behalf at the ceremony, Vice President Kashim Shettima conveyed Tinubu\u2019s confidence in the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and pledged continuous support to drive infrastructure development in the capital.<\/p>\n

The President hailed Wike\u2019s commitment and fast-paced delivery of projects, describing him as a man \u201cwhose sense of urgency in the execution of projects is well known to Nigerians.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tinubu said, \u201cThe capital of this nation must reflect the strength and dignity of all who call it home. We are determined to ensure that development knows no postcode, that governance does not discriminate, and that the dignity of our citizens is not defined by their geography.<\/p>\n

We will continue to provide the resources, policy backing, and institutional cooperation needed to ensure that projects like this are delivered on time and to the highest standards.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasized that his administration\u2019s goal remains to shape Abuja into a city that works for all residents, regardless of background or location.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to build a capital that works for everyone.<\/p>\n

So, as we commission this road, let it be a symbol not just of connectivity but of commitment, not just of movement but of momentum,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Tinubu further stated that the transformation of cities is a powerful indicator of serious governance and purposeful leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a city works, when its roads are paved, when its lights are on, and when its traffic flows smoothly, it tells the world that its government is not just present but purposeful. Infrastructure, after all, is not just about concrete and steel. It is the most persuasive advertisement of leadership, of order, and of vision.<\/p>\n

A modern city inspires confidence, attracts investment, and most importantly, restores the dignity of those who call it home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is why today\u2019s occasion is not just about commissioning a road, it is a grand reassurance that cities must work for their people and that a functioning capital is the foundation upon which a functioning nation is built.\u201d<\/p>\n

He noted that communities in Dakibiyu have long endured infrastructural neglect and that this project now brings them closer to the mainstream of development.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunities will flourish, congestion will ease, and most critically, livelihoods will thrive.<\/p>\n

Shops will open, markets will thrive, children will return to school faster, emergency services will arrive quicker.<\/p>\n

This is what we mean when we speak of Renewed Hope; not lofty rhetoric, but practical impact; not policy for the sake of politics, but policy translated into progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery road we build, every bridge we complete, every community we connect is a firm step towards a more inclusive, more equitable Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his address, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, appreciated President Tinubu and members of the Federal Executive Council for approving the road construction, which officially commenced in October 2024. He noted that the intervention became necessary due to the poor condition of the route, which serves several key public institutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour Excellency, I thank you for your continued support, and we will continue to solicit for more,\u201d Wike stated.<\/p>\n

Echoing the same sentiment, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, highlighted how Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda has continued to yield tangible results within the capital territory.<\/p>\n

She described the Dakibiyu road project as a reflection of the government\u2019s clear focus on building infrastructure that promotes inclusive urban growth and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe project stands as yet another testament to Tinubu administration\u2019s unwavering commitment to infrastructural development and inclusive urban growth,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n
