{"id":168421,"date":"2025-07-05T07:50:50","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T06:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/i-remain-in-pdp-gov-adeleke-denies-defection-plan"},"modified":"2025-07-05T08:56:38","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T07:56:38","slug":"i-remain-in-pdp-gov-adeleke-denies-defection-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/i-remain-in-pdp-gov-adeleke-denies-defection-plan","title":{"rendered":"I remain in PDP \u2014 Gov Adeleke denies defection plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has denied reports of his decamping to the All Progressives Congress, APC.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to speculations making the round, Governor Adeleke also reaffirmed his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<\/p>\n<p>The governor confirmed this through a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed on Saturday in Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>The state governor, while noting with concern the widespread rumour of his purported defection, also reassured his supporters that he remained a member of the PDP and the leader of the party in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads, \u201cGovernor Adeleke who restated his preoccupation with the implementation of the administration\u2019s five point agenda urged Osun people to ignore fake news, promising more delivery of good governance and democratic dividends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI assure the good people of Osun that I remain part and parcel of the PDP family. I am not defecting to any party\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST had earlier reported that the Osun State chapter of the PDP had dismissed claims that Governor Ademola Adeleke was involved in any political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Osogbo on Tuesday, the Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, affirmed that Governor Adeleke remains fully committed to PDP and is not part of any coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.<\/p>\n<p>This clarification follows reports that Atiku, a former presidential candidate of the PDP, has formed a new coalition under the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to challenge the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Bisi also added that the party in Osun State remained united and committed to its goals under the current leadership and had no interest in joining any political alliance or coalition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
