{"id":168503,"date":"2025-07-05T21:07:47","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T20:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/pdp-reduced-to-pack-of-cards-as-youth-leaders-exit"},"modified":"2025-07-05T22:15:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T21:15:10","slug":"pdp-reduced-to-pack-of-cards-as-youth-leaders-exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/pdp-reduced-to-pack-of-cards-as-youth-leaders-exit","title":{"rendered":"PDP Reduced to Pack of Cards as Youth Leaders Exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>In what appears to be a growing wave of discontent within the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State, two notable youth leaders, John Sunday Uttuh and Prince Akola Julius, have officially resigned their membership of the party.<\/p>\n<p>The duo cited internal crises, marginalization and irreconcilable differences as reasons for their defection.<\/p>\n<p>In separate resignation letters addressed to their respective ward chairmen, the former leaders expressed disappointment in the current state of the PDP, describing it as a party overwhelmed by deepening divisions, mutual distrust, and failed leadership.<\/p>\n<p>John Sunday Uttuh, former Youth Leader for Zone C, Benue South Senatorial District, and a prominent figure in Entekpa Ward, Otukpo Local Government Area, said his decision to resign, effective June 30, 2025, was born out of long-standing frustrations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy decision is predicated on the principles of equity, fairness, and justice that no longer prevail or exist within the party. The PDP has been reduced to a pack of cards and subjected to public ridicule,\u201d Uttuh lamented.<\/p>\n<p>He also pointed to the incessant marginalization of loyal party members and a persistent leadership crisis that has plagued the party in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Prince Akola Julius, former Councilor of Ai-Oono Ward 1 in Ogbadibo LGA and LGA Director of Youth Mobilization during the 2023 general election, announced his resignation on July 5, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Akola described his decision as \u201ccritical,\u201d citing irreconcilable differences within the PDP.
