Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A group of former Labour Party members officially joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, during a mega rally held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly Onikan Stadium), ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos State.<\/p>\n

The chairman of the Labour Party, in Apapa Local Government Area, Femi Badia, on Tuesday led several members from Lagos Central into the ruling APC.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Badia cited the developmental strides of President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as key reasons for aligning with APC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here today to become part of the progressive movement. We have been inspired by the remarkable achievements of President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu in Lagos. This is our formal declaration of membership and our firm commitment to support President Tinubu\u2019s re-election in 2027. I can assure you that we will deliver our polling units come Saturday,\u201d Badia stated.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the new members, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, presented them with the party\u2019s flag and commended their decision to join the ruling party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI congratulate you for embracing the vision of the progressives and aligning with the achievements of our leader, President Bola Tinubu. In the APC, hard work is always recognised. You have chosen to be on the side of progress after witnessing what we\u2019ve accomplished in Lagos State. Our former state chairman, who shared the party\u2019s ideals with you, is here today alongside your group leader to present to you formally,\u201d Ojelabi said.<\/p>\n

Addressing the upcoming 12 July local government elections, Ojelabi expressed confidence tha APC would secure victory across all 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas. He described the mega rally as a fitting culmination to the party\u2019s campaign activities.<\/p>\n

He also encouraged party members to actively engage non-Yoruba-speaking residents of the state, urging them to support and vote for APC in the forthcoming polls.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cWe started our campaign in peace and we are rounding it off today. We thank God we are alive, hale and healthy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thank all the leadership of this senatorial district, starting from Prince Tajudeen Olusi, the GAC leaders, and the cabinet members from this district. All the ethnic nationalities, members of the state campaign team, and our teeming supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we are wrapping up our mega rally, but the door-to-door campaign is still ongoing. I appreciate all of you, especially the women and the youths. We know your importance and how you have been supporting our party. I have no doubt that come 12 July, you will cast your votes for the APC for a better future.\u201d<\/p>\n
