Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has disagreed with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) over ownership of plots of land in Abuja.<\/p>\n

According to NLC, the Abuja plots with numbers MISC 54707 and MISC 54824 belong to it.<\/p>\n

NLC President Joe Ajaero made this clarification in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n

This comes as NSITF, in a notice on Thursday, declared that it has lost the Certificate of Occupancy, Power of Attorney, and Deed of Assignment in respect of the controversial plots.<\/p>\n

Reacting, the NLC told the NSITF to withdraw the notice, threatening to press charges against the agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are neither pressing charges nor asking for damages for the embarrassment this public notice has caused us for now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe find this publication as mischievous or utterly ridiculous or, hopefully, an act of sheer ignorance because the aforesaid plots of land have always belonged to the Nigeria Labour Congress, belong to the Nigeria Labour Congress, and will continue to belong to the Nigeria Labour Congress. Coupled with this, the Congress has been in possession of the aforesaid plots of land.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a few words, therefore, both the proprietary and possessory rights on, over, and about those plots reside with the Nigeria Labour Congress.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is trite knowledge that one cannot claim loss or issue a loss notice over that which one has neither possessory nor proprietary right.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccordingly, NISTF is advised to withdraw this notice. We are neither pressing charges nor asking for damages for the embarrassment this public notice has caused us for now,\u201d parts of the statement read.<\/p>\n
