Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>At least six members of the Community Protection Guards, CPG, were killed on Thursday in an ambush by suspected bandits in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. as the victims were travelling from Bungudu to Yar Katsina in the Kekun Waje District to sympathize with the family of a colleague killed a day earlier.<\/p>\n

According to a post on Friday by security analyst Zagazola on X, the guards were attacked by heavily armed assailants who opened fire, killing six on the spot. Several rifles and a motorcycle belonging to the victims were reportedly taken by the attackers.<\/p>\n

Sources said the ambush may have also resulted in the abduction of some of the guards, though the exact number remains unclear.<\/p>\n

Troops of Operation FANSAR were deployed to the area shortly after the attack, but the suspects had fled into the bush before their arrival.<\/p>\n

The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Bungudu town for burial.<\/p>\n
