{"id":169325,"date":"2025-07-14T12:24:31","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T11:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/buhari-he-was-change-mantra-south-south-youth-leader"},"modified":"2025-07-14T13:30:17","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T12:30:17","slug":"buhari-he-was-change-mantra-south-south-youth-leader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/buhari-he-was-change-mantra-south-south-youth-leader","title":{"rendered":"Buhari: \u2018He was change mantra\u2019 \u2013 South-South youth leader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>President of the South-South Youths Initiative, Comrade Saviour Oscar, has expressed sadness over the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a \u201cChange mantra.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former Nigerian President died at an undisclosed hospital in the United Kingdom on Sunday at the age of 82.<\/p>\n<p>Oscar said that the late Nigerian leader would be remembered for his commitment to the \u201cWar against Corruption and Indiscipline.\u201d Praying for the repose of his soul, the youth leader said that the late Buhari\u2019s legacies would remain indelible, especially in the minds of Nigerian youths.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the late President\u2019s administration launched a notable anti-corruption campaign, leading to high-profile arrests and asset recoveries, including the prosecution of some cases and recovery of Abacha loot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe implementation of the UNEP report on Ogoniland, introduction of policies aimed at diversifying the nation\u2019s economy also boosted the non-oil sector and national GDP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Treasury Single Account (TSA), one of his initiatives, also enhanced financial transparency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe spearheaded other programs tied to social investment like the N-Power and TraderMoni, which served as a relief for millions of beneficiaries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Oscar, however, said that although the late Buhari\u2019s administration might have faced some challenges, he, to a large extent, laid a good foundation for successive administrations to leverage on.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the administration took a strong stance against Boko Haram, achieving territorial gains while addressing other security challenges, \u201calthough insecurity is yet to be completely surmounted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, we must consider the lessons from our predecessors, including the late Buhari, build on their successes, and learn from their shortcomings.<\/p>\n<p>Oscar, however, called for the prioritisation of inclusivity and robust citizen engagement on issues bothering on economic growth, security, and infrastructure development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
