Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, top government officials, and Nigerians from all walks of life for their support before and after Buhari\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by Garba Shehu on Sunday, the eldest member of the Buhari family, Malam Mamman Daura, said the outpouring of love and sympathy from both within and outside Nigeria gave the family the strength to bear the loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of Nigeria showed up to honour Buhari, comfort us, and pray for him. We truly appreciate all the visits, messages, and prayers,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

He appreciated President Tinubu for giving a public holiday and changing the name of the University of Maiduguri to honour the late president.<\/p>\n

He also appreciated Vice President Kashim Shettima for personally attending the burial in Daura and visiting the family in the UK.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thanks also go to leaders of other countries, including King Charles III, the UN Secretary-General, and ECOWAS leaders, for sending condolences and showing solidarity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The family also appreciated the support from governors, traditional and religious leaders, top businesspeople, politicians, civil society groups, and everyday Nigerians who visited or sent their condolences.<\/p>\n

\u201cMuhammadu Buhari\u2019s demise is an irreparable loss and its pain is beyond words, but the general reaction and kind expressions give us the strength to cope with the loss of our esteemed family member and former leader of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been honoured by the large turnout of people from different religions, political parties, and backgrounds.Your kindness has truly moved us,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

The family said the love shown by Nigerians at home and abroad during the mourning period was both challenging and reassuring and prayed that God would bless everyone who supported them during this difficult time.<\/p>\n
