{"id":170643,"date":"2025-07-21T21:57:40","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T20:57:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ex-bauchi-ssg-ibrahim-kashim-quits-pdp"},"modified":"2025-07-21T23:11:06","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T22:11:06","slug":"ex-bauchi-ssg-ibrahim-kashim-quits-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/ex-bauchi-ssg-ibrahim-kashim-quits-pdp","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Bauchi SSG, Ibrahim Kashim quits PDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in Bauchi State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, has officially resigned from the party.<\/p>\n<p>In a resignation letter dated July 21 and obtained by DAILY POST on Monday, Kashim did not disclose the reasons for his departure from the party.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, expressed appreciation to his ward executives and the PDP leadership for the opportunity to serve and for entrusting him with the party\u2019s governorship ticket ahead of the 2023 polls.<\/p>\n<p>It will be recalled that months before the 2023 general election, Kashim withdrew from the race in support of Governor Bala Mohammed, who had initially contested for the PDP presidential ticket. Following Bala\u2019s return to the governorship race, Kashim relinquished his candidacy and continued to serve as SSG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn solidarity with the Governor, I campaigned vigorously across Bauchi Local Government Area alongside him,\u201d he stated, noting his role in helping the governor secure re-election despite the challenges typically faced by second-term aspirants.<\/p>\n<p>Kashim further said: \u201cBe that as it may, after due consideration, I wish to formally notify you that I have, effective the date of this letter, resigned my membership of the PDP. I hope to explore other avenues to seek the mandate of our people and serve with commitment, passion, integrity, and above all, the fear of Allah (SWT).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kashim had earlier stepped down from his role as Secretary to the State Government in January 2025, a move he said was based on a directive by Governor Bala Mohammed.<\/p>\n<p>While he has yet to declare his next political move or announce a new party affiliation, there is growing speculation that Kashim may be preparing to contest the 2027 governorship election on another platform<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
