Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Yobe State Police Command said its operatives have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a female health worker at the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu.<\/p>\n

The Command through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday.<\/p>\n

According to the Command the suspect identified as Usman Ahmed, resident of Abba Ibrahim Housing Estate, reportedly used a neem stick to attack the health worker after a dispute over medical attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing a distress call from the hospital\u2019s security personnel, \u2018C\u2019 Divisional Police personnel swiftly mobilized and arrested the suspect.<\/p>\n

\u201cCourt proceedings have commenced, and the suspect will face the consequences of his actions\u201d, it said.<\/p>\n

The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, in the statement condemned such act of violence and warned against taking the law into one\u2019s own hands.<\/p>\n

He assured that heavier penalties will be imposed on anyone found guilty.<\/p>\n

CP Ado advised people in the state to use official channels to report complaints to designated authorities or use complaint desks in institutions when they are aggrieved.<\/p>\n
