Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Veteran entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has revealed the rationale behind the creation of \u2018Charly Boy\u2019 bus stop, which was recently renamed.<\/p>\n

Speaking on \u2018The Morning Brief\u2019, a programme on Channels Television on Tuesday, the activist said Gbagada was named after him by the people in the early 90s because of his contribution to the community.<\/p>\n

According to him, people from all walks of life in the community had benefitted in one way or the other from his benevolence, hence they named the bus stop after him.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce upon a time, I used to live at the bus stop,\u2019 Charly Boy recounts how Charly Boy Bus Stop at Gbagada was named after him in the early 90s.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople who were at Gbagada at the time felt it was just the right thing to name a bus stop after me because I contributed to that community. The military, pensioners, okada riders and other people benefited from me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI gave scholarships out to people. I don\u2019t like talking about what I have done and what I have not done but I tried for my community at the time I was there. So because of what I had done, the people thought it wise to name the bus stop after me, and that\u2019s how it all started,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The Bariga Local Council Development Area recently renamed the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos after indigenous rapper and music executive, Olamide.<\/p>\n
