Faruq Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).<\/p>\n<p>They described the allegations as a \u201cdesperate charade\u201d by faceless groups intent on derailing the reforms taking place in the oil and gas regulatory space.<\/p>\n<p>The youth groups, comprising the South-South Youth Leaders and Agitators and Nigeria Youth for Good Governance, at a joint press conference in Abuja, noted that the allegations were politically motivated to tarnish his public service record.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Convener of South-South Youth Leaders and Agitators, Comrade Eidogho Marcus, the allegations against Ahmed were baseless and allegedly filed by groups lacking credibility and national standing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe equally call on the National Assembly, the SGF\u2019s Office, and the Presidency to disregard baseless petitions sponsored by groups lacking credibility and national standing.<\/p>\n<p>These groups have no known history of public advocacy or anti-corruption engagement and appear only when hired for smear campaigns,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus maintained that the allegations against Engr. Ahmed are \u201cspurious, unsubstantiated, and orchestrated\u201d to malign a technocrat whose integrity and professionalism have repositioned the midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the Convener of Nigeria Youth for Good Governance, Comrade Oluwole Samson, urged the media not to be willing tools in the hands of political actors seeking to undermine public servants who stand for merit and reform.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to Nigerians and the international community to remain vigilant and support credible efforts aimed at institutional transformation in Nigeria\u2019s oil and gas sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge Nigerian youths to rise above political mischief and reject the culture of \u2018trial by media\u2019. Engr.
