{"id":172392,"date":"2025-08-03T22:23:16","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T21:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nasarawa-takes-over-electricity-market-as-12th-state"},"modified":"2025-08-04T00:14:25","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T23:14:25","slug":"nasarawa-takes-over-electricity-market-as-12th-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/nasarawa-takes-over-electricity-market-as-12th-state","title":{"rendered":"Nasarawa Takes Over Electricity Market as 12th State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Nasarawa State has become the 12th Nigerian state that now regulates and oversees electricity market in Nigeria in line with the country\u2019s Electricity Act 2023.<\/p>\n<p>This follows the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) transfer of regulatory oversight of the electricity market in the state to the Nasarawa State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NASERC).<\/p>\n<p>NERC disclosed this in a statement on Saturday through X.<\/p>\n<p>According to NERC, the move was in compliance with the amended Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) and the Electricity Act 2023 (Amended).<\/p>\n<p>It directed Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to incorporate a subsidiary to assume responsibilities for intrastate supply and distribution of electricity in Nasarawa State within 60 days from 4th August, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll transfers envisaged by the order, NERC says, are to be completed by 3rd February 2026,\u201d the Commission stated.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST reports that NERC had earlier transferred regulatory oversight to Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, and Oyo states.<\/p>\n<p>The commission added that full regulatory oversight will be transferred to Plateau State on 12 September 2025, while preparatory transfer readiness notices have been received from Abia and Delta.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
