Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A former senator and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Sadiq Yaradua, has resigned from the ruling party.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a letter addressed to his ward chairman in Wakilin Gabas II, Katsina Local Government.<\/p>\n

In the letter, Yaradua said the APC has failed the Nigerian people and abandoned its original mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can no longer remain in a party that has completely abandoned its foundational principles and objectives of being a servant of our teeming talakawa (masses),\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Yaradua, who played a role in forming the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), accused the APC-led government of worsening insecurity and making life harder for Nigerians.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot remain in a party or support a government that unashamedly watches its citizens being maimed, assaulted, and killed while it remains unconcerned,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot support a party whose elected government imposes destructive economic policies that destroy the lives and welfare of our people.\u201d<\/p>\n

He referred to APC leaders as bandits in government.<\/p>\n

Yaradua also said he would join efforts to remove the APC through democratic means.<\/p>\n

He further called on his supporters to join him in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as a party for all Nigerians.<\/p>\n
