{"id":172650,"date":"2025-08-05T21:43:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T20:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/flick-explains-rashfords-new-role-at-barcelona"},"modified":"2025-08-05T22:43:42","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T21:43:42","slug":"flick-explains-rashfords-new-role-at-barcelona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/sport\/flick-explains-rashfords-new-role-at-barcelona","title":{"rendered":"Flick Explains Rashford&#8217;s New Role at Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, has said that loanee Marcus Rashford will have to adopt a different role at the club.<\/p>\n<p>He said this while explaining his decision to deploy the England striker in a different position during their 5-0 pre-season friendly win over Daegu.<\/p>\n<p>Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan from Manchester United this summer, and the Catalans could sign him for \u20ac30 million at the end of the season if they wish.<\/p>\n<p>Rashford\u2019s first game for the Catalans was on July 27, when he came off the bench in their 3-1 win over Vissel Kobe.<\/p>\n<p>In the game against Daegu, Rashford came off the bench to replace Robert Lewandowski in the 46th minute, taking up the striker\u2019s role.<\/p>\n<p>He netted his first goal for Hansi Flick\u2019s side in the 65th minute of the game to seal their win while playing as a number 9.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the match, as quoted by AS, the German gaffer explained his decision to experiment with Marcus Rashford.<\/p>\n<p>Rashford has played most of his football career as a winger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe can play at number 9 or number 11. We changed it because we had to be careful with Ferra\u0301n.
