{"id":172665,"date":"2025-08-06T09:12:51","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T08:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ncaa-grounds-valuejet-pilots-over-safety-violation"},"modified":"2025-08-06T10:20:25","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T09:20:25","slug":"ncaa-grounds-valuejet-pilots-over-safety-violation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/ncaa-grounds-valuejet-pilots-over-safety-violation","title":{"rendered":"NCAA Grounds ValueJet Pilots Over Safety Violation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has grounded two pilots of ValueJet airline for serious breach of safety procedures at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the NCAA, said the incident occurred at the Domestic terminal of the airport on Friday, 5th of August, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreliminary information raised, indicated that the pilot concerned commenced flight departure from the designated bay without undertaking his pre-departure clearance\u201d, it added.<\/p>\n<p>NCAA described the actions of the pilot as \u2018reckless\u2019 because it placed harm upon the lives of the airport\u2019s ground personnel and all other users of the airport.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authority, the activity contravened the national regulations of aviation and international safety standards.<\/p>\n<p>NCAA has suspended the licences of the pilot, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and co-pilot, First Officer, Ivan Oloba.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis suspension is immediate pending the successful and full investigation of the incident,\u201d NCAA said.<\/p>\n<p>The regulatory body conclude by reaffirming its commitment to aviation safety, and assured stakeholders that it remains committed to safe and secure aviation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
