Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Abia State Sector Command has confirmed that an 18-seater bus was involved in an accident along the Isiala Ngwa Ntigha section of Aba- Port Harcourt expressway on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Sector Commander in Abia State Command, Ngozi Ezeoma who made the confirmation in response to a message from DAILY POST, confirmed that a baby lost her life in the accident.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt involved a commercial bus with 18 passengers.<\/p>\n

\u201cNine male adults and 5 female adults were injured, while 1 female child died as confirmed on reaching the hospital\u201d, the FRSC Sector Commander said.<\/p>\n

She added that the injured victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

According to additional reports from other transporters, the accident which happened at about 11 am, involved the bus conveying passengers from Ebonyi State.<\/p>\n

The report said that personnel of the Abia State Emergency Response Team led by Faithwin Obioma Analaba and officers from the Federal Road Safety Commission rescued and took the injured victims to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the official cause of the accident is still being awaited from FRSC and other agencies but a transporter, Chukwudi Gideon claimed that the bus suddenly developed a tyre problem and skidded into the bush, where it somersaulted.<\/p>\n
