Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has insisted that former President Goodluck Jonathan is the only Southerner who can defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.<\/p>\n

Adeyanju, however, noted that Jonathan might not run in the 2027 presidential election.<\/p>\n

Posting on X, he wrote: \u201cGEJ is the only southern candidate that can defeat Tinubu but I don\u2019t think he will run against Tinubu.\u201d<\/p>\n

The human rights lawyer noted that the Nigerian constitution allows Jonathan to run for another term of four years.<\/p>\n

\u201cGEJ is not constitutionally barred from contesting. Our laws forbid a situation where any law would be made targeting a particular individual.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I try to explain this to you now, headache might worry you but have a great day sir,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Adeyanju also maintained that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi used the Nigerian church to secure six million votes.<\/p>\n

He further stressed that Obi would not be allowed to replicate the same feat in 2027.<\/p>\n

Adeyanju added that President Bola Tinubu, who rode on the threshold of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, did not go about mosques seeking votes.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cThis was how the church secured 6 million votes for Obi in 2023. We will not be alive and watch you religious bigots rewrite history.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can never respect a man who used religion to campaign in a multi-religious country. At least the Muslim-Muslim guys didn\u2019t go round mosques to campaign, Obi did despite my warnings.\u201d<\/p>\n
