Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A woman identified as Nguevese Abite of Adeor community in Isherev, Ndzorov Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, was murdered by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen on Thursday.<\/p>\n

According to a resident,Mr Anshu Timothy , the victim and others were working on their farm when the attackers arrived, interrogating them about their identity.<\/p>\n

He said after answering their questions, the group left. However, while retiring home for the day, Nguevese lagged behind.<\/p>\n

Timothy said the family became worried about her whereabout and returned to the farm after she failed to return home but she was nowhere to be found.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family searched for her the following day which is today, and her body was eventually discovered in a secluded area of the farm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police were informed, and her body was taken to the Gbajimba Police Division Headquarters, where it was handed over to the family for burial in Logo Local Government Area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Further investigations into the incident revealed that Fulani herdsmen have been terrorizing the community, raping women and committing other atrocities.<\/p>\n

A source said Nguevese may have resisted her attackers\u2019 attempt to rape her leading to her killing.<\/p>\n

Recall that in June, armed Fulani herdsmen launched an assault on the same community, leaving two farmers, Kator Gbangir and Adeor, with varying degrees of injuries after they tried to chase away a flock of cattle that were destroying their crops.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP,Udeme Edet could not be reached as at the time of this report.<\/p>\n
