{"id":173379,"date":"2025-08-11T12:46:39","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T11:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/police-arrest-suspected-ritualists-cultists-in-osun"},"modified":"2025-08-11T13:53:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T12:53:50","slug":"police-arrest-suspected-ritualists-cultists-in-osun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/police-arrest-suspected-ritualists-cultists-in-osun","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest suspected ritualists, cultists in Osun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Osun State Police Command has arrested eight persons over alleged murder and suspected ritual killing.<\/p>\n<p>The command made this known in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abiodun Ojelabi, on Monday in Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>Ojelabi said the suspects were arrested for the murder of a teenager, 16-year-old Faruq Abudu, in Arademi Area, Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects, he said, are Ismail Abiodun, male, 22 years; Usman Ademola, male, 22 years; Yonke Akinwal, female; Fatai Abiodun, male; Fatai Sikiru, male; Tawa Inakonko; Idowu Adesina, male; and Awotunde Saudat, female.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads, \u201cOn 26\/07\/2025 at about 1600hrs, upon information received that the trio of Ismail Abiodun \u2018m\u2019, Usman Ademola \u2018m\u2019, and Faruq Abudu \u2018m\u2019, all of Awotedo Area, Apomu, went to Arademi Area, Ikire, to cut grass, after cutting the grass, two of the boys lured Faruq Abudu, 16yrs, into a remote bush, cut his abdomen in a bid to remove some vital organs of his body.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey removed his scrotum and ran away when the victim raised an alarm.<\/p>\n<p>The police team immediately moved to the scene, the victim was rescued to hospital for medical attention and later referred to University College Hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, eight (8) suspects have been apprehended, namely: Ismail Abiodun \u2018m\u2019 22yrs, Usman Ademola \u2018m\u2019 22yrs, Yonke Akinwale \u2018f\u2019, Fatai Abiodun \u2018m\u2019, Fatai Sikiru \u2018m\u2019, Tawa Inakonko, Idowu Adesina \u2018m\u2019, and Awotunde Saudat \u2018f\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also arrested are Michael Temiloliwa and Odunayo Joshua, who are both 22 years old, for unexpectedly being members of Eiye confraternity.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added that the duo, who confessed to being confraternity members, operated from the campus of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads, \u201cOn 30\/7\/2025 at about 1145hrs, information received from a member of the public revealed that some hoodlums suspected to be members of cultists were sighted at Osun State Polytechnic junction, Iree town.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice patrol team from Anti-Cultism Unit swung into action and two suspects were apprehended: one Michael Temiloluwa \u2018m\u2019 age 22yrs and one Odunayo Joshua \u2018m\u2019 age 22yrs.
