{"id":174053,"date":"2025-08-13T20:10:02","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T19:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/all-voters-in-line-by-230-pm-can-vote"},"modified":"2025-08-13T21:10:42","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T20:10:42","slug":"all-voters-in-line-by-230-pm-can-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/all-voters-in-line-by-230-pm-can-vote","title":{"rendered":"All Voters in Line by 2:30 PM Can Vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Osun State, has said that voters who are on the voting queue before 2:30pm will still have chance to vote on election day.<\/p>\n<p>The Osun INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Mutiu Agboke made this known during a stakeholders meeting in Osogbo on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was held in preparation of the commencement of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR exercise and publishing of the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election timetable.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Agboke said, \u201cPeople will continue to be in the queue while others will be attended to. As at 2:30, the procedure is this, APO3 and one security will be behind the last person on the queue when it is exactly 2:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone of them will be told to go. The police and the APO3 will make sure that no other voter joins the queue and all those people must vote. That is the procedure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also warned against voters breaking the queue and insisting on voting after the official closing time, adding that such is a criminal office and will be prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>The Osun INEC boss also said it will relocate CVR centres from local government secretariats currently under lock in the state.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST recalled that Osun LG secretariats have been shut since February 17, 2025, due to a tussle between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe CVR will start on the 18th day of August, 2025, with online registration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy this, the prospective registrant will visit https:\/\/cvr.inecnigeria.org to supply the necessary information about himself or herself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThereafter, he or she will generate a slip to take to INEC local government office within his place of residence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLater on the 25th of August 2025, the registrant will visit the local government office for his or her biometrics, i.e the fingerprint and the facial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cINEC offices located inside local government secretariats are not shut down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, INEC has harvested the number of those local government offices. We want to bring them out of the LG secretariats. We are working on that. Our headquarters had requested their details and we have forwarded to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Agboke revealed that 360,794 Permanent Voter Cards remained uncollected.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that out of the 1,954,800 confirmed registered voters in the state, 1,594,006 PVCs have been collected.<\/p>\n<p>Agboke announced that activities for the August 8, 2026, Osun governorship election have officially begun, with notices posted in all INEC LG offices.<\/p>\n<p>Party primaries are scheduled between November 24 and December 15, 2025, while submission of candidates\u2019 particulars will run from January 15 to February 9, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Agboke commended INEC staff, the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, and security agencies for their support, urging continued collaboration to deliver a peaceful poll.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated INEC\u2019s commitment to transparency and technology-driven processes, confirming that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, will be deployed in 2026 for the Osun State guber election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
