{"id":174417,"date":"2025-08-15T11:53:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T10:53:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/apc-responds-to-canadian-judges-allegations"},"modified":"2025-08-15T12:58:21","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T11:58:21","slug":"apc-responds-to-canadian-judges-allegations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/apc-responds-to-canadian-judges-allegations","title":{"rendered":"APC Responds to Canadian Judge&#8217;s Allegations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has fired back at Justice Phuong Ngo of the Federal Court of Canada for labelling the party and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n<p>This is as the ruling party described the judge as an ignoramus.<\/p>\n<p>A Canadian court had upheld a ruling that classified the APC and the PDP as terrorist organizations, while denying asylum to a former member, Douglas Egharevba, over his decade-long affiliation with both parties.<\/p>\n<p>In a judgment delivered on June 17, 2025, Justice Ngo had dismissed Egharevba\u2019s application for judicial review after the Immigration Appeal Division, IAD, found him inadmissible under Canada\u2019s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, IRPA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe presiding judge must be an ignoramus! We are not party to the suit, and the court has no jurisdiction to determine the status of a Nigerian-recognized political party, not to talk of declaring it as a terrorist organization,\u201d said APC scribe, Senator Ajibola Basiru.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the APC is a credible democratic political organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unfortunate that some desperate and unpatriotic Nigerians will allow the name of the country to be brought to unpalatable commentary by racist judges on account of a self-contrived application for asylum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe so-called judgement was obviously delivered from a jaundiced perspective and within the narrow confines of determining eligibility for asylum by an applicant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe APC is a credible democratic political organization and does not seek legitimacy from a foreign bench and under a law that has no extraterritorial application,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
