Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Benue Youth Congress, BYC, has presented a comprehensive report on the security challenges confronting the state to the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa.<\/p>\n

The made the presentation during a courtesy visit to Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Led by BYC President, Hon. Anngu Orngu, the delegation included youth leaders from the Tiv, Idoma, Igede, and Etulo communities. The group highlighted the urgent need to protect farmlands, communities, and livelihoods in Benue, describing the state\u2019s role as the Food Basket of the Nation as critical to Nigeria\u2019s food security.<\/p>\n

They also called for the inclusion of young people in security operations and urged the extension of the Presidential Amnesty Programme to some of the restive youths in the Sankera axis as a means of fostering sustainable peace.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Orngu said, \u201cBenue is the Food Basket of the Nation, but without security, our farmlands, our communities, and our very future are at risk. We believe that involving our young people directly in security initiatives will not only improve safety but also inspire a new generation of peace-builders.\u201d<\/p>\n

The delegation was received by AVM Sayo Olatunde, Defence Chief of Policy and Plans, before presenting Gen. Musa with an Excellence in Leadership Award in recognition of his outstanding service to the Nigerian Military.<\/p>\n

Hon. Orngu described the engagement as a milestone in building stronger collaboration between the military and youth leaders, expressing optimism about renewed efforts to secure peace and prosperity in Benue State.<\/p>\n
