{"id":174513,"date":"2025-08-15T13:20:49","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T12:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/revisit-sunday-igbohos-case-yoruba-group-begs-tinubu"},"modified":"2025-08-15T14:20:05","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T13:20:05","slug":"revisit-sunday-igbohos-case-yoruba-group-begs-tinubu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/revisit-sunday-igbohos-case-yoruba-group-begs-tinubu","title":{"rendered":"Revisit Sunday Igboho\u2019s case \u2013 Yoruba group begs Tinubu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A group championing the emancipation of Yoruba land, Yoruba Self-Determination Movement, YSDM, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to revisit the case against Mr. Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho.<\/p>\n<p>The group made the appeal during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Secretariat in Ibadan on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government had, during the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari, declared Igboho wanted.<\/p>\n<p>The government at that time directed security agencies to arrest Igboho anywhere he is found.<\/p>\n<p>The Yoruba Self-Determination Movement, YSDM, however, is appealing to Tinubu to revisit the case.<\/p>\n<p>YSDM Deputy Leader (Homeland) Architect Opeoluwa Akinola, while addressing journalists, said that Sunday Igboho had vigorously and selflessly campaigned against the killing, maiming, raping and kidnapping of Yoruba sons and daughters.<\/p>\n<p>He said the case against him should be revisited by the Tinubu-led Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>Akinola maintained that the Department of State Security, DSS, illegally invaded Igboho\u2019s house, killed his people, incarcerated many of his relatives and forced him into exile where he was imprisoned for months in deference to the government of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Igboho\u2019s bank accounts have been frozen indefinitely, whereas no tangible crime or allegation has been<\/p>\n<p>levelled against him.<\/p>\n<p>Akinola said Igboho must be set free, and the wanted tag placed on his name removed forthwith.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe travails of Chief Sunday Adeyemo, otherwise known as Sunday Igboho, who has vigorously and selflessly campaigned against the killing, maiming, raping and kidnapping of Yoruba sons and daughters must be revisited by this government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Directorate of State Security (DSS) illegally invaded his house, killed his people, incarcerated many of his relatives and forced him into exile where he was imprisoned for months in deference to the government of Nigeria. His bank accounts have been frozen indefinitely, whereas no tangible crime or allegation has been<\/p>\n<p>levelled against him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChief Sunday Adeyemo alias Igboho must be set free and the toga of WANTED placed on his name should be removed forthwith.
