We are, however, hoping that INEC, as a law-abiding institution, will do the needful by formally publishing the names of our nominees for the bye-elections and FCT council elections without further delay,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ifoh also criticized INEC for allegedly stifling Labour Party candidates\u2019 ability to campaign effectively, citing previous incidents including the Ondo governorship election where access codes were reportedly granted just 24 hours before the vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is clearly a systemic route orchestrated by INEC to perpetually prevent the Labour Party and their candidates from favourably participating in elections,\u201d he added, while urging party members to remain resolute.<\/p>\n<p>The Nasarawa court, in suit number NSD\/LF.84\/2024, ruled on July 23, 2025, that INEC must grant access codes to Julius Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim\u2014affirmed by the court as the authentic leadership of the Labour Party\u2014to upload their nominated candidates for both the bye-elections and the FCT Area Council elections.<\/p>\n<p>INEC has yet to publish the list of Labour Party nominees for the upcoming bye-elections scheduled for Saturday or for the FCT council elections slated for early 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In a swift response, Senator Usman\u2019s camp condemned the development, alleging political desperation and manipulation of the judicial process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe leadership of the Labour Party is appalled by reports alleging that a Nasarawa State High Court granted an interlocutory order\u2014purportedly at the instance of Barrister Julius Abure and his faction\u2014directing INEC to upload their candidates\u2019 names for the FCT Council elections,\u201d according to a statement signed by her Senior Special Adviser (Media), Ken Asogwa.<\/p>\n<p>Usman questioned the timing of the court order\u2019s release, calling it \u201csuspicious\u201d and \u201cmischievous,\u201d especially given its announcement on the eve of crucial nationwide bye-elections.<\/p>\n<p>The clash deepens ongoing leadership tensions in the Labour Party, potentially complicating its preparations for upcoming electoral contests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
