Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A former governorship candidate of Zamfara State and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Friday in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Shinkafi revealed the incident occurred shortly after Juma\u2019at prayers on August 15.<\/p>\n

He said masked heavily armed gunmen dressed in black blocked his vehicle and attacked him before they fled the scene in a black, unmarked Prado Jeep.<\/p>\n

In a statement through the Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development, Shinkafi called the attack an \u201cunprovoked attempt\u201d on his life. He further allude it\u2019s related to his vocal critique of the insecurity in Zamfara State and other national issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will not be deterred by intimidation or harassment in the quest for national security, peace, unity, and social development.\u201d Shinkafi emphasized.<\/p>\n

He also stated that prior to this attack there were also multiple threat calls received in his Abuja residence that he also believes were in connection to this attempt. He called on the Inspector General of Police and the DSS to investigate and punish the perpetrators and their sponsors.<\/p>\n
