Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Three people reportedly lost their lives in a multiple road accident in Edo State at the weekend.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred on the Auchi\u2013Okpella\u2013Okene road, by Omega Fire Ministry in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that the crash involved a Dangote truck and three other vehicles, including a Mercedes GLK.<\/p>\n

The Mercedes GLK was said to have been damaged beyond repair.<\/p>\n

The truck, which was heading towards Benin, rammed into the three vehicles, killing three persons and injuring one on the spot.<\/p>\n

The deceased were identified as two males and one female.<\/p>\n

The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Cyril Mathew, who confirmed the incident, attributed it to brake failure.<\/p>\n

Mathew said: \u201cThe truck had a brake failure, and in the process, rammed into three vehicles, killing three persons and injuring one.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him: \u201cSix persons were involved in the accident, three died including two male and one female adults while two others escaped unhurt. Four people were in the Mercedes, three of them died and one injured.\u201d<\/p>\n

He called on truck drivers to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and to be more conscious of other road users by avoiding overspeeding, so that when mechanical issues arise, the vehicles can be more easily controlled to safety.<\/p>\n
