{"id":174946,"date":"2025-08-18T23:32:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T22:32:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ex-convict-arrested-for-theft-days-after-release"},"modified":"2025-08-19T00:32:51","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T23:32:51","slug":"ex-convict-arrested-for-theft-days-after-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/ex-convict-arrested-for-theft-days-after-release","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Convict Arrested for Theft Days After Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Operatives of Patrol Team of Eagle-Net Special Squad, Delta State Police Command, have arrested an ex-convict for stealing, five days after his release from prison.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by SP.bEdafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Delta Command, said the operatives, while on visibility patrol, had received a distress call concerning a missing motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, in a combined effort with some members of Nigeria Hunters Security Services, NFSS, they arrested one Precious Okoro, 27, and Buhari Deyegu, 18 years, recovering the missing motorcycle in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Okoro is an ex-convict who was released from Ogwashi-uku correctional facility on 6th of August 2025, after completing a two years jail term for also stealing a motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect went back to steal another motorcycle just five days after returning from prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigation was extended to the suspect\u2019s residence, where a search warrant was executed, and one Tiger generator, one big Fireman generator and one iron measuring scale were recovered.<\/p>\n<p>Also, one Bassey Udoh, 39, was arrested with an English Beretta pistol in Asaba.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is part of a syndicate that usually breaks into people\u2019s homes and cart away their properties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn 16\/8\/2025 at about 0511hrs, Operatives of Rapid Response Squad of Delta State Command, while on Stop and Search stopped the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect, on sighting the police, became uncomfortable and this prompted the policemen to search him on the spot,\u201d Edafe said, adding that the suspect said he bought the gun for the sum of N30,000.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
