Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, has hinted on the possible increment of salaries of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, senators, and ministers.<\/p>\n

The RMAFC Chairman, Mohammed Shehu, who disclosed this, said their current salary was not tenable and unrealistic.<\/p>\n

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Shehu said the current salary structure had been unchanged since 2008 despite a hike in responsibilities and economic challenges.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cYou cannot pay the President of Nigeria N1.5m monthly with a population of over 200 million people and expect it to be taken seriously.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou pay either a CBN governor or the DG ten times more than you pay the President. That is just not right. Or you pay him [the head of an agency] twenty times higher than the Attorney-General of the Federation. That is absolutely not right.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has condemned such a move, warning against increasing the salaries of politicians.<\/p>\n

NLC stressed that it would be unjust for politicians to enjoy salary increment when the average Nigerian is battling with inflation and poverty.<\/p>\n
