{"id":174997,"date":"2025-08-19T08:49:21","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T07:49:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/abuja-lokoja-highway-gridlock-eases-as-frsc-opens-2nd-lane"},"modified":"2025-08-19T09:53:46","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T08:53:46","slug":"abuja-lokoja-highway-gridlock-eases-as-frsc-opens-2nd-lane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/abuja-lokoja-highway-gridlock-eases-as-frsc-opens-2nd-lane","title":{"rendered":"Abuja-Lokoja highway gridlock eases as FRSC opens 2nd lane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The gridlock on the Abuja-Lokoja highway has eased up for motorists and commuters because the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, opened a second lane for traffic flow.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered on Tuesday in Koton-Karfe that there is Easy Flow of Traffic on both lanes that is Lokoja-Kotonkarfe-Abuja and Abuja-Koton-Karfe-Lokoja routes in early morning of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kumar Tsukwam, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Sector Commander in Kogi, said that the unfortunate gridlock, which began on Sunday has finally been tackled through drastic measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took a proactive measure by meeting with the Federal Ministry of works and the construction companies along the route so as to mitigate on finding possible solutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of it is that the contractors should fast-track works and create alternative road to ease vehicular movement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs it is, the gridlock at the Koton-karfe and environs has drastically reduced. Thanks to the combined efforts of operatives mobilised from RS8.3 Kogi Sector, RS8.33 Koton-karfe Unit Command, Corridor 3 and Military Personnel,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>He said that cars were diverted to use the Lokoja\/Abuja lane, under construction, to mitigate traffic congestion within the corridor.<\/p>\n<p>The Sector Commander reiterated that the major cause of the gridlock was lane violation, indiscipline and impatience of motorists of smaller vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, FRSC has deployed more personnel to the Koton-Karfe axis to biff up petrol for visibility and placed on red alert to mitigate against traffic congestion.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to motorists to display maturity and discipline in driving on the highways to avoid a reoccurrence of the bitter gridlock that inconvenient a lot of travellers.<\/p>\n<p>FRSC had expressed its frustration over motorists\u2019 impatience along the Abuja-Lokoja highway, which caused traffic gridlock since on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The gridlock had subjected motorists and commuters to an untold hardships as travellers were spending between eight and ten hours getting to Abuja or Lokoja.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
