Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Police Command in Enugu State has detained three suspected criminals, and recovered firearms, a motorcycle and other incriminating items in separate operations within the state.<\/p>\n

The Spokesman of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Enugu.<\/p>\n

Ndukwe said that the feat was part of a sustained vigorous clampdown on armed robbery and other violent crimes in the state by the command.<\/p>\n

He said that on Aug. 20, police operatives attached to the Agbani Area Command, apprehended a suspect, and recovered a locally-made gun from him.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreliminary investigations link the suspect to an armed robbery incident that occurred recently at Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The police spokesman further said that on Aug. 18, operatives attached to the Udenu Police Division, apprehended two suspects at Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring interrogation, one of them confessed to have robbed a motorcyclist of his motorcycle.<\/p>\n

\u201cA motorcycle, one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun, one live cartridge, one battle axe, a cutlass, three solar panels, one solar battery, solar light, and an object suspected to be a charm were recovered from them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Ndukwe said that the suspects would be arraigned in court at the end of investigations.<\/p>\n

He urged members of the public to always support the police with timely and credible information to enhance proactive crime prevention and effective policing.<\/p>\n

The spokesman said that Mamman Giwa, the Commissioner of Police in the state, remained committed to rid Enugu State of criminals.<\/p>\n
