Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Katsina state government has earmarked \u20a620 million per local government for the upkeep and renovation of cemeteries.<\/p>\n

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda disclosed this on Thursday when he received traditional rulers from the Katsina and Daura Emirates in Katsina.<\/p>\n

According to him, the initiative serves the public good while also seeking divine blessings for the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have set aside \u20a620 million for each local government to ensure our graveyards are well taken care of. This is part of our service to the people and also a way of seeking Allah\u2019s blessings for Katsina,\u201d Radda said.<\/p>\n

The governor also unveiled a new welfare package for traditional and religious leaders.<\/p>\n

He explained that a new law passed by the State House of Assembly would raise the salaries of all District Heads to at least Grade Level 16.<\/p>\n

The governor further explained that 6,652 ward heads across the state would begin to receive monthly allowances, while over 3,000 Imams and their deputies from Friday mosques would be provided with stipends.<\/p>\n

He added that sweepers working in Izala and Darika mosques across the 34 LGAs would receive monthly allowances.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo far, over 1,500 of our young people have been trained and provided with tools to support security operations in the state. Security is a collective responsibility. We must unite to protect our people,\u201d Radda explained.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Senator Ibrahim Ida, the Wazirin Katsina, who represented the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir-Usman, lauded the governor\u2019s commitment to advancing the two emirates.<\/p>\n
