Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Security operatives in Rivers State on Friday carried out a show of force in Port Harcourt to assure residents of their safety ahead of Saturday\u2019s local government elections.<\/p>\n

The exercise, which kicked off from the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters on Moscow Road, involved a convoy of patrol vehicles from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and other sister agencies.<\/p>\n

The security convoy moved through major streets in Port Harcourt and Obio\/Akpor Local Government Areas, demonstrating operational preparedness to maintain peace and order before, during, and after the elections.<\/p>\n

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, had earlier reiterated that comprehensive security measures had been put in place to ensure a free, fair, and credible exercise.<\/p>\n

CP Adepoju emphasized that the deployment of personnel and resources was aimed at guaranteeing residents\u2019 confidence in the process.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the state police command has declared a restriction of movement across Rivers State on election day.<\/p>\n

The restriction, which applies to both human and vehicular movement, will run from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.<\/p>\n
