Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigeria Police Force has intercepted two suspected gunrunners along the Ingawa\u2013Karkarku village road in Katsina State and recovered over 1,295 rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n

In a statement, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, said that on September 1, 2025, operatives in Katsina State intercepted two suspects.<\/p>\n

The Force PRO revealed that the suspects were transporting the arms from Jigawa State to Katsina State for distribution to criminal elements before they were intercepted.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cOn September 1, 2025, at about 4:35 am, a patrol team of police officers attached to the Katsina State Command intercepted two gun runners along the Ingawa\u2013Karkarku village road, Katsina State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspects, identified as Abdussalam Muhammed (25) and Aminu Mamman (23), both male residents of Baure village in Safana Local Government Area, Katsina State, were apprehended following credible intelligence on their activities and swift tactical response of Police operatives.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that upon searching their operational vehicle, a blue-coloured Volkswagen Golf with Reg No RSH-528 BV, some exhibits were found concealed inside.<\/p>\n

The items recovered include one General Purpose Machine Gun, 1,063 rounds of 7.62x39mm AK-47 ammunition, and 232 rounds of 7.62x69mm PKT ammunition.<\/p>\n

Adejobi disclosed that preliminary investigations indicate the illegal arms and ammunition were being transported from Hadejia in Jigawa State to Safana LGA in Katsina State for distribution to notorious criminal elements.<\/p>\n

The suspects are currently in custody, and an in-depth investigation is ongoing to uncover the source, distribution network, and possible affiliations of the recovered arms.<\/p>\n
