Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Osun State have arrested Habeeb Adedayo, 27, and Akeem Fawas, 19, for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist, 26-year-old Segun Olatunji.<\/p>\n

A statement by the State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, on Tuesday, said the victim was killed in Olupona, Iwo, Osun State.<\/p>\n

Gotan explained that the complaint about the victim\u2019s disappearance was lodged by his father on August 16, 2025.<\/p>\n

The statement read: \u201cOn August 16, 2025, the complainant reported at Iwo Division that, at about 8 am, his son Segun Olatunji, a commercial motorcyclist, left home for his daily commercial motorcycle operations\/activities within Iwo town and did not return home.<\/p>\n

\u201cImmediately the report was made, detectives of the command swiftly put necessary investigation mechanisms in place and fortunately, the duo of Habeeb Adedayo and Akeem Fawas were apprehended at Ibafo, Ogun State, while attempting to sell the deceased\u2019s motorcycle.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring interrogation, the suspects confessed to have posed as farmers and lured the deceased by employing his service to convey them from Odo-Ori area, Iwo, to their farmland along Olupona, Iwo, with an enticing sum of N5,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspects further confessed that, after reaching a certain location, they asked the deceased to stop; Habeeb Adedayo stabbed him in the neck, dragged him from the motorcycle and slit his throat with a knife.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Osun police chief further disclosed that the suspects admitted to the crime. He added that one of them, Habeeb Adedayo, confessed that he and three others (excluding Akeem Fawas) had previously carried out three successful operations in Ori-Eru, Agbowo and Ebu Alare, all in Iwo.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FKJ595QN and a knife were recovered as exhibits, and the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of investigation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The command also revealed that it had recovered a stolen car, a golden-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number JZ 756 ABC.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the vehicle was intercepted along Unity Junction, Ikire, but the driver fled when stopped by officers for inspection.<\/p>\n

It stated further: \u201cSimilarly, on August 29, 2025 at about 8:30 pm, detectives from Prompt Response Unit of the command, while on stop and search duty at Unity Junction, Ikire, intercepted a Toyota Camry with Reg. No. JZ 756 ABC, golden color.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the process of checking the car documents the driver took to his heels. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was removed from the park at Owode Ede on the same date at midnight. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, CP Gotan advised commercial motorcyclists to be vigilant and security conscious about the commuters they carry in the course of their daily work.<\/p>\n
