{"id":177728,"date":"2025-09-05T07:01:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T06:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/el-rufai-kaduna-police-violating-constitution-over-adc"},"modified":"2025-09-05T08:25:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T07:25:16","slug":"el-rufai-kaduna-police-violating-constitution-over-adc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/el-rufai-kaduna-police-violating-constitution-over-adc","title":{"rendered":"El-Rufai: Kaduna Police Violating Constitution Over ADC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the state Commissioner of Police of violating the constitution.<\/p>\n<p>El-Rufai said the summon sent to him was a dangerous descent into lawlessness by the state police Command.<\/p>\n<p>The state police command had earlier allegedly prevented a scheduled meeting of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, from holding in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Command subsequently summoned El-Rufai and seven members of the ADC for questioning.<\/p>\n<p>It accused the former governor and ADC members of alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.<\/p>\n<p>The summon said the ADC Chairman in the state should produce El-Rufai and others at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, on September 8.<\/p>\n<p>Responding, El-Rufai condemned the action of the state Police Command.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press conference at his private residence in Kaduna, the former governor said: \u201cThe commissioner knows what he is doing violates the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe waved a piece of paper claiming it was a court order, but it was never served.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if such an order exists, it must be legally delivered before it can take effect. That has not happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a dangerous descent into lawlessness. We want to see that injunction, we want to know the grounds, and we will contest them in court.
