{"id":177801,"date":"2025-09-06T11:29:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-06T10:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/more-heads-may-roll-in-abia-civil-service"},"modified":"2025-09-06T11:29:00","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T10:29:00","slug":"more-heads-may-roll-in-abia-civil-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/more-heads-may-roll-in-abia-civil-service","title":{"rendered":"More heads may roll in Abia civil service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Some members of the salary committee in Abia State suspected to be complicit in salary padding in Abia State, are to face a probe to determine their innocence or otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>This is coming after six civil servants in Abia State Ministry of Justice were dismissed from their jobs by the State government.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST recall that those sacked are: Mr. Dickson Uche Eze \u2013 Principal Accountant , Mrs. Esther Emeruwa , Senior Accountant, Mrs. Ijeoma Jonathan, Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Treasure Isinguzo an Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Chioma Victoria Erondu, Principal Executive Officer and Mrs. Hannah Ezinne Eze, a senior Executive Officer.<\/p>\n<p>Their sack was contained in a statement signed by Eno Jerry Eze, the Chairman of Abia State Civil Service Commission, who said that the decision followed a detailed investigation by the Abia State Civil Service Commission on their alleged confirmed involvement in salary padding.<\/p>\n<p>But an additional statement contained in the workers\u2019 dismissal has indicated that some members of the salary committee who are suspected to be involved in the fraudulent scheme, are to face a separate probe to ensure full accountability.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part: \u201cAdditionally, the investigation raised serious concerns about the possible complicity of some members of the Salary Committee in the fraudulent scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Governor has directed that the activities of the Committee be subjected to a separate probe to ensure full accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A civil servant, who spoke under anonymity on Friday, told DAILY POST that some civil servants may be affected if the probe is deepened.<\/p>\n<p>While acknowledging that there are bad eggs in the system, the civil servant pleaded that any fresh probe in the workforce should be diligent to ensure that only the corrupt, not innocent ones are affected.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in 2025, Abia State Head of Service, Benson Ojeikere warned civil servants against indulging in corrupt acts, emphasizing that any one caught will face the music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
