Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has blasted his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, asking him to stop politicizing insecurity.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Saturday in Kaduna at the presentation of \u2018Where I Stand\u2019, a book written by the late Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi and translated into Arabic by Sheikh Ibrahim Jalo Jalingo, the governor stated that firearms alone cannot end banditry.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST recalls that El-Rufai in a television interview on August 31, criticised what he described as a \u201cmisguided non-kinetic\u201d approach to insecurity, alleging that the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, coordinates ransom payments and incentives to bandits.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I will not do is to pay bandits, give them a monthly allowance or send food to them. Non-kinetic is nonsense. We are empowering bandits. That\u2019s what is going on.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy position has always been that the only repentant bandit is a dead one. Let\u2019s wipe them out, bomb them, reduce them to nothing. And then the five percent that still want to be rehabilitated can be rehabilitated,\u201d El-Rufai had said.<\/p>\n

Responding, Sani disagreed, attributing banditry to poverty, unemployment, and neglect of rural communities are at the heart of banditry.<\/p>\n

\u201cInsecurity can\u2019t be resolved solely through the use of firearms. Whoever makes such a claim is only playing politics. We must fear God and stop deceiving the people because that approach will not work,\u201d Sani said.<\/p>\n
