Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police has recorded a disturbing case of domestic assault involving an eight-year-old girl, her three-year-old sister, and their mother who was reportedly forced out of the house with her nine-month-old baby in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n

The command\u2019s spokesperson Josephine Adeh said in a statement on Wednesday that the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9.<\/p>\n

She said upon receipt of a distress call regarding the alleged assault, the FCT Commissioner of Police, \u201cpromptly deployed the DPO Mpape Division and operatives of the Command\u2019s Gender Unit to the scene, where, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, the children were rescued, one of them found with visible bruises\u201d.<\/p>\n

She said the children\u2019s mother was later traced and \u201cplaced in protective custody with her children\u201d.<\/p>\n

Josephine explained that the suspect, identified as Mr David Tersoo, 45 years old, a contractor with a \u201chistory of domestic abuse\u201d, had locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed.<\/p>\n

She said after sustained efforts, officers secured his arrest without casualties, stating that a pump-action firearm, white powder, and other suspected illicit substances were recovered from him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has been taken in for drug testing as part of ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Commissioner of Police commended the Ministry of Women Affairs and the vigilant neighbors whose swift intervention helped prevent tragedy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe urged victims of domestic violence to speak out and assured residents of the Command\u2019s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring justice.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvestigations are ongoing. Further updates will be communicated in due course\u201d, the statement added.<\/p>\n
