{"id":178876,"date":"2025-09-14T19:42:33","date_gmt":"2025-09-14T18:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/fuel-reduction-dangote-refinery-free-delivery-scam-dappman"},"modified":"2025-09-14T20:47:27","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T19:47:27","slug":"fuel-reduction-dangote-refinery-free-delivery-scam-dappman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/fuel-reduction-dangote-refinery-free-delivery-scam-dappman","title":{"rendered":"Fuel Reduction Dangote Refinery Free Delivery Scam DAPPMAN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) has said the fuel distribution scheme by Dangote Refinery is misleading and a scam.<\/p>\n<p>DAPPMAN disclosed this in a statement reacting to the face-off between the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Dangote Refinery.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as Dangote Refinery on Thursday said it would begin fuel and diesel distribution nationwide with its 4,000 compressed natural gas trucks.<\/p>\n<p>NUPENG had accused Dangote Refinery and the regime of planning to crush the union and other players within the country\u2019s downstream sector.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the development, DAPPMAN, which had always kicked against Dangote Refinery\u2019s fuel distribution scheme, said the initiative in reality imposes additional financial burdens on petroleum marketers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe claim that the refinery offers \u2018free delivery\u2019 is also misleading. In reality, marketers are required to lift at least 25 per cent of their allocations directly from the refinery gantry and must do so using only Dangote-owned trucks, paying commercial rates based on their destination. This arrangement imposes additional logistical and financial burdens on marketers, limits operational flexibility, and undermines the narrative of cost relief being provided to the local market,\u201d DAPPMAN stated.<\/p>\n<p>DAPPMAN said Dangote Refinery fuel reduction is mainly to frustrate other businesses within the value chain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClaims that repeated fuel price reductions by the Dangote Refinery are patriotic gestures ignore their timing and market impact. These reductions were often strategically timed when other importers had active cargoes at sea or in tanks, creating price shocks that undermined competition and imposed financial strain on fellow market participants, including the refinery\u2019s own domestic customers.<\/p>\n<p>According to DAPPMAN, Dangote Refinery shortchanged domestic buyers with higher prices while selling to international buyers at a lower cost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven more concerning is the refinery\u2019s pattern of offering lower prices to international buyers while quoting higher rates to local off-takers.
