{"id":178990,"date":"2025-09-15T11:58:18","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T10:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/no-going-back-on-biafra-massob-declares-after-24-years"},"modified":"2025-09-15T13:03:43","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T12:03:43","slug":"no-going-back-on-biafra-massob-declares-after-24-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/no-going-back-on-biafra-massob-declares-after-24-years","title":{"rendered":"No Going Back on Biafra MASSOB Declares After 24 Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) says it will not give up its struggle for the actualization of Biafra.<\/p>\n<p>It said the self determination struggle would continue through principals of non-violence.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, signed by Comrade Uchenna Madu, leader of MASSOB.<\/p>\n<p>Today, as we celebrate our 24 years anniversary of MASSOB formation on September 13, 1999, we remember our brothers &amp; sisters whose lives were cut short because of Biafra in the hands of Nigeria security agents,\u201d Madu said.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that non-violent MASSOB members died innocently with brave hearts for the Biafra cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were molested, mesmerized, humiliated, and brutally killed by the armed security agents of our oppressors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, the remnants of MASSOB activists also remember the parents of our fallen heroes, some are still traumatized, some are dead because of shock while others are living ghosts of themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committedly, consistently and uncompromisingly agitating for an independent state of Biafra from Nigeria,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Madu stated that Biafra \u201cis the answer to the numerous subjective slavery Nigeria subjected Ndi Igbo into, ranging from political, economical, academic, religious, cultural and social slavery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday in Nigeria, true nationhood has remained stillborn.
