Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Yobe State House of Assembly has called on the executive arm of government to take proactive measures to control the spread of kidney disease in the state.<\/p>\n

The House made the call in a motion of urgent public importance moved by members representing Bade West and Tarmuwa constituencies Hon. Sadiq Yahaya and Hon. Buba Maina Sale.<\/p>\n

The members, who spoke at length on the increase in numbers of kidney disease victims, stressed the need for the state government to hasten its investigation to find out the root cause of the disease in the state.<\/p>\n

The lawmakers recalled that some years ago the disease was plaguing the northern part of the state, but gradually it is now spreading across other local government areas, describing the situation as worrisome.<\/p>\n

The members also stressed the need for public awareness on the disease before the final investigation on the root cause of the disease by the health experts.<\/p>\n

They commended the state government for constituting various investigation committees on the matter and providing free dialysis to victims of kidney disease and also stressed the need for additional dialysis centers at Gashua and Potiskum to cater for the victims of the disease at the two senatorial zones.<\/p>\n

Supporting the motion, the members representing Karasuwa, Damaturu II, Geidam Central and Damagum constituencies, Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo, Hon. Buba Ibrahim Kalallawa, Hon. Bukar Mustapha and Hon. Digma Maina Gana described the motion as crucial.<\/p>\n

Presiding over the sitting, the speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio called on members of the National Assembly representing Yobe to present the matter at the National Assembly for federal government intervention.<\/p>\n
