{"id":179525,"date":"2025-09-18T20:45:55","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T19:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/police-arrest-eight-suspects-in-yobe-criminal-gang-bust"},"modified":"2025-09-18T21:54:32","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T20:54:32","slug":"police-arrest-eight-suspects-in-yobe-criminal-gang-bust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/police-arrest-eight-suspects-in-yobe-criminal-gang-bust","title":{"rendered":"Police Arrest Eight Suspects in Yobe Criminal Gang Bust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Yobe State Police Command said its operatives have busted a gang of criminals specialised in burglary and theft in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Dungus Abdulkarim, the Command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, indicating that the operation followed the resurgence of burglary, theft, and phone snatching within the state\u2019s major towns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the period under review, reports were received of shops being burgled, with items worth millions of naira carted away, as well as incidents of motorcycle theft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFour residential houses were also broken into, with motorcycles stolen in Damaturu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActing on credible intelligence, operatives of the \u2018A\u2019 Division Police Headquarters carried out a tactical manhunt and successfully apprehended the suspects\u201d, the Command said.<\/p>\n<p>It added that, those arrested Abubakar Ahmad (20years) of Hausari; Babagana Goni (25years) of Nayi Nawa; Abubakar Ibrahim (28years) of Alhajiri and Mohammed Adamu (28years) of Nassarawa; specialising in housebreaking, shop burglary, and theft, operating as a gang within Damaturu metropolis, mostly at night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso arrested were: Babangida Yahaya, alias \u201cKala\u201d (28years) of Abbari and Ayuba Mohammed (27years) of Rimi Uku, Potiskum<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth are notorious receivers of stolen items, including motorcycles, which they dispose of illegally\u201d, it added.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Police Command, one Mohammed Mohammed (40years) and Adam Abubakar (17years) of Nayi Nawa were identified as accessories before and after the criminal acts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother suspect, Hassan (surname withheld), believed to be the mastermind of the syndicate, is currently at large but will soon be apprehended\u201d, the Command said.<\/p>\n<p>Items recovered include: 3 scooter motorcycles; 34 pieces of ankara fabric; assorted clothing and two bed sheets; a female hijab; 1 bag of 100kg rice and an Itel smartphone among other valuable items.<\/p>\n<p>The Command noted that all the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
