{"id":179587,"date":"2025-09-19T08:06:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T07:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/benue-assembly-passes-bill-for-nursing-college"},"modified":"2025-09-19T09:07:57","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:07:57","slug":"benue-assembly-passes-bill-for-nursing-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/benue-assembly-passes-bill-for-nursing-college","title":{"rendered":"Benue Assembly passes bill for nursing college"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Benue State House of Assembly has passed a bill for the establishment of the Benue State College of Nursing Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>The bill was passed on Thursday during plenary.<\/p>\n<p>The debate for the bill was led by the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Thomas Dugeri (APC\/Kwande West), who emphasised the importance of the proposed institution.<\/p>\n<p>He urged his colleagues to expedite action on the passage of the bill to secure accreditation for the institution as the public strongly supported the bill due to its relevance.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker, Rt. Hon Alfred Emberga stated that the institution will operate multiple campuses in the state, while reviewing the bill clause by clause.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that anyone appointed as provost of the school must be a qualified nurse holding a Master\u2019s Degree in Nursing, to ensure academic and professional standards.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the provost\u2019s term would last four years, with a possibility of renewal for another four years based on performance and institutional needs.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker then directed the Clerk of the House, Dr Bem Mela, to read the bill for the third and final time before the House.<\/p>\n<p>After the third reading was completed by the Clerk, the speaker declared that the bill had been passed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
