Hours after the Court of Appeal sitting in Jos, Plateau state upheld his victory, Governor Simon Lalong has reacted to the verdict of the appellate court.<\/p>\n

The Nation reports that the governor described his victory as validation of the will of the people of the state.<\/p>\n

Lalong in a statement issued on Friday, November 29, by his director of press and public affairs, Simon Macham, said that the affirmation of his victory was yet another collective victory for the entire people of the state.<\/p>\n

The governor said that he was not surprised by the court’s verdict as he never doubted the validity of the people\u2019s mandate reposed in him and the All Progressives Congress<\/a> (APC).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a victory for me but for the entire people of Plateau who have demonstrated faith in our rescue mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike I have repeatedly said, I am governor for everyone irrespective of party, tribe, religious or any other affiliations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He stated that he was ready to carry everyone in the state along.<\/p>\n

Lalong called on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, retired General Jeremiah Useni to join hands with him in moving the state forward.<\/p>\n

The governor appealed to the people to continue to support his administration towards leaving a lasting legacy in the state.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the PDP suffered a huge defeat on Friday, November 29, as an appeal court ruled in favour of Governor Lalong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
