{"id":18312,"date":"2019-11-30T19:14:36","date_gmt":"2019-11-30T19:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=18312"},"modified":"2019-11-30T19:14:36","modified_gmt":"2019-11-30T19:14:36","slug":"better-than-chelseas-kante-super-eagles-midfielder-hailed-as-premier-leagues-best","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/better-than-chelseas-kante-super-eagles-midfielder-hailed-as-premier-leagues-best","title":{"rendered":"\u201cBetter Than Chelsea\u2019s Kante\u201d \u2013 Super Eagles Midfielder Hailed As Premier League\u2019s Best"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four months into a season that has the Foxes challenging at the top end of the league table alongside heavyweights like Liverpool and Manchester City, Nigeria international <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wilfred_Ndidi\">Wilfred Ndidi<\/a> has been praised as one of the key reasons why Leicester City are flying.<\/p>\n<p>England international James Maddison, while acknowledging the unique qualities of Chelsea midfield general N\u2019golo Kante, has raised Foxes\u2019 teammate and Super Eagles star, Ndidi as the best holding midfielder in the English Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>Ndidi has been an ever present personnel in the middle of the park for Leicester City since joining from Genk in 2017 as a direct replacement for N\u2019Golo Kante, who left for Chelsea but the 22-year-old has taken his art to a completely different level this season.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cafonline.com\/total-africa-cup-of-nations\/\">AFCON<\/a> 2019 bronze winning midfield enforcer is currently ranked as the best tackler in the English top-flight with 61 tackles and his 37 recoveries is the most of any player in the English top flight.<\/p>\n<p>This remarkably consistent form has helped Leicester City become a team difficult to score against with the Foxes boasting the league\u2019s best defense having conceded just eight times in 13 games.<\/p>\n<p>Leicester City midfielder James Maddison believes stats don\u2019t lie and is convinced that no other Premier League defensive midfielder compares to the Nigerian star.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he\u2019s the best in the Premier League at tackling and winning the ball back, bar none,\u201d Maddison told Football Daily as observed by Soccernet.ng.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know [N\u2019Golo] Kante is a brilliant player and there are players like that.
