{"id":18510,"date":"2019-12-05T14:20:09","date_gmt":"2019-12-05T14:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=18510"},"modified":"2019-12-05T14:20:09","modified_gmt":"2019-12-05T14:20:09","slug":"court-orders-dss-to-release-publisher-within-24-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/court-orders-dss-to-release-publisher-within-24-hours","title":{"rendered":"Court orders DSS to release Publisher within 24 hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Abuja Federal High Court on Thursday ordered the Department of State Services, DSS, to release Omoyele Sowore, convener of RevolutionNow Movement within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu also ordered that Sowore\u2019s co-accused, Olawale Bakare be released within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The judge further ordered the secret police to pay the sum of N100, 000 to Sowore for refusing to release him on bail despite two court orders to that effect.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Ojukwu consequently adjourned the trial of the case brought against them by the Nigerian Government till December 6 for continuation.<\/p>\n<p>Sowore has been in custody of the DSS after he was arrested for allegedly calling for a revolution.<\/p>\n<p>The court had recently ordered the release of Sowore alongside Olawale Adebayo.<\/p>\n<p>The DSS is yet to comply with the order and claimed that no surety had come to take Sowore on bail.<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks ago, a group of protesters led by Deji Adeyanju alleged that they were given N1m to stop the protest aimed at demanding for Sowore\u2019s release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Abuja Federal High Court on Thursday ordered the Department of State Services, DSS, to release Omoyele Sowore, convener of RevolutionNow Movement within 24 hours.
