{"id":192439,"date":"2026-01-07T22:41:20","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T21:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/fubara-misusing-funds-and-operating-without-budget"},"modified":"2026-01-07T23:50:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T22:50:22","slug":"fubara-misusing-funds-and-operating-without-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/fubara-misusing-funds-and-operating-without-budget","title":{"rendered":"Fubara Misusing Funds and Operating Without Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Robinson Ewor, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misusing public funds.<\/p>\n<p>Ewor claimed that the state is currently operating without an approved budget for the 2026 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>He made the allegations on Wednesday during the \u201cthank you\u201d visit of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to Ahoada East Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ewor, governance in Rivers State has been hampered by a lack of collaboration between the executive and legislative branches.<\/p>\n<p>He warned that without a formally passed appropriation law, all state spending would be unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government is designed so that there must be an executive, a legislature, and a judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe three must work together to be able to deliver the dividends of democracy for the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2026, as we speak, the state has no budget. Every expenditure we make from now on, from January 1 going forward, is an illegal expenditure,\u201d the PDP chieftain said.<\/p>\n<p>Ewor urged the state government to be transparent with citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I will advise them, let them be the leaders they are.
